“Hi, my name is Caroline.”
“I joined Maldon Padel club around 3 years ago and absolutely loved
playing. Unfortunately, in August of last year I had a fall which resulted in me fracturing my back.
I was looking forward to returning to the club when unexpectedly I had a massive stroke which resulted in being hospitalised for 6 weeks. My rehabilitation has been slow but steady and I am now much improved.
Today I walked on court
My mobility is still affected and so I spent an hour hitting the ball – forehand, backhand, off the wall shots and the bandeja.
I cannot express the joy I felt being able to play albeit in a small way the sport I love again.
I cannot recommend Maldon Padel club enough. The coaches are fantastic, and the fun is endless. I never thought I would go on court again but would say to anyone who is in rehabilitation give it a go. Contact Dan Troy or any of the coaches and they will be more than happy to advise you and accommodate you.”
It is absolutely amazing the journey that Caroline has been on from breaking her back to the multiple strokes that she has had. She is truly such an inspiration and to be able to get her on court to hit some balls shows her determination and the love that she has for Padel.
It is such a great example of what sport can do in terms or mental happiness and state of mind. Sometimes in sport we get so engrossed in the competitive nature of the game that we forget just to enjoy the here and now. Caroline is such an example for others and just to be able to get her onto court is the best thing for us as a club. It shows her wonderful spirit, strength and perseverance, and as a club we look forward to seeing her on court and helping her a little with her continued journey.
Bravo Caroline! An amazing story.
