On Sunday 11th December Chelmsford Padel Club hosted our first-ever club tournament with members at the club.

It was something that we had been looking forward to doing for sometime, and whilst holding competitive Mexican-style events that have been very popular with the members it was great to hold our first traditional knockout tournament. It was great to see a lot of our regular members coming down to play and watch the event!

The event as a whole was very close and competitive the whole way through, from the first round games right the way through to the final! The game of the tournament was between Brian & Sophia against John & John. The game was very evenly matched the whole way through with the first set having to be decided on a set tiebreak! this ended 7-5. The second set was won 6-2 by John and John which then caused the game to go to a third set championship tiebreak. This was once again very close indeed! The final score ended 13-11 to Sophia and Brian in a memorable tiebreak to 10 points!

The final of the event was played out between Matt Fairman & Richard Ramjane against Adam Fowler and Lewis Young. Like all of the games in the tournament, this too was also a very closely fought final with some great padel on show. The first set was won by Adam and Lewis after once again the first set went to a tiebreak and it ended 7-5 to Adam and Lewis. They also managed to win the second set 6-4 and were crowned champions of the first Chelmsford Padel Club Tournament.

There was also a consolation draw for those who were knocked out in their first game, the final of which was played by Francisco and Adam against John and John, after another good two sets John and John were champions of the backdraw.

We were very happy with how the tournament ran, it was a great way to see just how quickly and well the club had grown with our regular members improving and learning more and more about padel and how to play.
