Padel Has Arrived In Devon! And PDL – Padel United Can Help You Play Or Improve Your Game!

Q

How long have you been playing padel and where did you learn?

A

Padel was first introduced to me over 10 years ago in Spain when I was studying Physical activity and Sports coaching. I was 18 at that time and I fell in love with a sport that is fun, entertaining, and easy to get into right from the start. I played consistently for 2 years before moving to the UK where I could not find any courts around my area. Since that point, I have used my vacations as the opportunity to continue playing padel tennis. But now PDL- Padel United UK has arrived!

Q

What separates padel from other racket sports?

A

The key aspect that differentiates padel from other racket sports is the racket itself. The padel racket is a non-string racket and that means you have way more control when you hitting the ball; in other words, it does not require as much technique or time to reach a good level. Another benefit of padel is that it does not requires to have a great fitness conditioning thanks to the court walls, the size of the court itself and also the fact that is mainly played in doubles.

Q

Why should people take up Padel?

A

I think padel is just a very entertaining sport that you can practice with anyone, not only friends but also with family members. It only requires a few sessions to be able to play padel consistently and get into the dynamics of the game. It is a very inclusive sport as it does not require special talent or significant fitness potential. Moreover, the walls also avoid unnecessary interruptions meaning you can have more play time without the need of chasing the ball.

Q

Why should the people of Plymouth take up padel?

A

From my arrival to the city a few months back, I can tell Plymouth residents are very involved in a huge variety of sports (running, sea swimming, tennis, football, hockey, climbing…) so I do not have a doubt padel tennis will also be welcomed to the city. It is true padel tennis may not be as popular in the UK yet as it is in Spain, where it is second only to football, but as a fast-paced and rapidly growing sport, I have no doubts it will spread across the country as fast, if not even faster, as is already spreading around the rest of the world. The reason for its popularity is because it is a very fun sport and easy to play. As in everything new in life, it brings an opportunity with it. In other words, embracing the sport could help to bring padel tennis to other cities and could also help Plymouth to become a pioneer in a new racket sport that will soon be amongst the most popular racket sports in the world.

Q

A coaching session can improve anybody’s game – regardless of their current level – how can they contact you?
