“It Looked Like a Giant Floating Cage” – Residents Stunned by Sudden Descent
Residents of Stansted were left puzzled as strange, geometric objects were spotted hovering in the skies near the airport this week.
Footage captured from the Romeera Leisure Centre and mobile phone cameras shows large, metallic structures suspended in mid-air, appearing to float slowly across the skyline before descending just behind the building, thankfully well beyond the airport perimeter.
Social media exploded with theories.
“It looked like a UFO made out of scaffolding,” said one local.
“I saw it coming from the sky, no visible helicopter, and then the thing just lowered down. It was surreal.”
Others reported hearing a low mechanical hum followed by a series of precise landings that many assumed were part of a military drill or an alien invasion.

THE TRUTH TOUCHES DOWN
Stansted’s ‘UFO’ Turns Out to Be Padel Courts Delivered by Crane
After several hours of speculation — and at least one call to a local radio station claiming “aliens play racquet sports” — the mystery was finally solved.
The objects?
Brand-new, professional-grade padel tennis courts being craned into place at a brand-new sports venue set to open in Stansted very soon!
Delivered in modular sections by heavy-duty crane due to the site’s limited vehicle access, the courts were carefully lowered into position, creating a sight that looked more sci-fi than sporting.
“We didn’t plan on causing a alien invasion conspiracy,” said a spokesperson for PDL Padel United, the group behind the new venue.
“But we understand the excitement — padel is a sport that is really flying at the moment and it’s well worth shouting about.”

A SPORT THAT LANDS DIFFERENTLY
Padel, a fast-growing sport that blends tennis and squash, is gaining popularity across the UK — and now, it’s landing (literally) in Stansted. The new venue promises to offer social, high-energy games for all ages and abilities.
As for the residents still scratching their heads?
“I’ve never played padel,” said one local, “but if the courts arrive from the sky, I’ll give it a go.”
Watch this space — or the skies — for the official launch announcement.
